Albert Washington was born on the 17th August 1935 in Rome, Georgia. At 16, he joined The Gospelaires, recording for Don Robey’s “Duke” and “Peacock” records in Houston. A few years later, he formed his own gospel group, The Washington Singers. In 1962, he recorded his first single for “Finch” records in Cincinnati,  later released on “Bluestown” records. His 1964 singles for “VLM” records got him noticed in England, and this in turn led to a deal with “Fraternity” records in 1966.  In 1970, he recorded two singles for “Jewel” records before finally recording his first album for  “Eastbound” records in 1972. Because of complications from diabetes, Washington lost his sight, and his career fell by the wayside from the mid 1970’s until the 1990’s when he released some records on “iris” records. Albert Washington sadly died on October 23rd, 1998 in Columbus, Ohio. This disc has some superficial scuffs to the vinyl, whilst retaining gloss, conservatively graded between VG= and VG++ condition
