“Venture” records began on October 2, 1967, in California as a subsidiary of “MGM” records, for their Soul and Funk acts. It was headed by William “Mickey” Stevenson until 1969, when the label was closed. In this time Clarence Alexander Avant worked for the label before founding “Sussex” records . The Ballads were a 4 member group from Oakland, California comprising Nathan Romerson, John Foster, Leslie LaPalmer and Rico Thompson, they were sometimes credited as The Ballards. This disc from 1968 has a “drill hole” otherwise is in EXCELLENT condition, worth checking out the flip too
