“Seville” records was founded in 1958 by Danny Kessler and Murray Sporn. In 1960 Kessler sold his interests to Edward Kassnerwho operated the company as a sister label to his UK based “President” records, releasing records in the US until 1968. He then reactivated the label in the UK in 1975. Doris Jones was born in South Carolina in 1948, moving to New York 11 years later. At 20 she formed a group called Sex, Love & Life with her sister Lumishia Jones, then in 1972, as the Electric Ladies they recorded “King Kong” on “Mainstream” records. The record stiffed in the States and Britain. Doris then formed Black Stash, recording “Mighty Love Man”, produced by the Exciters’ Herb Rooney. Ian Levine discovered Jones through Rooney and cut some tracks on her in a New Jersey studio that were released in England – “He’s So Irreplaceable,” and “Stranded in the Wilderness.” This disc from 1974 has light wear whilst retaining gloss, conservatively graded in VG++ condition, worth checking the flip too
