Bobby Mac – Keep On – Original Sound

£15.00

The Original Sound Records label was situated at 8510 Sunset Boulevard, Hollywood, California and was started in the early 1950’s by California disc jockey Art Laboe who popularized the “oldies but goodies” format on radio “KPOP” during the “Art Laboe Show”. Though compilation albums of older material are now commonplace, Laboe was among the first to license material from several labels for the first successful “oldies” albums to hit the market, releasing the compilations on the Original Sound label. Although little is documented about Bobby Mac, apart from his 1967 recording of “Shy Guy” on the obscure West Coast “Vended” records. This tune was first released on “Moonglow” records on March 4th 1967, then swiftly released on “Original Sound” records on 18th March 1967 and is in EXCELLENT condition – Worth checking out the flip “Walking Together”
