Alfred Jesse Smith was born on July 26th, 1941 in Shreveport, Louisiana, moving to San Pedro in Los Angeles, California. After leaving college he took the stage name Brenton Wood and recorded for “Brent” records, “Wand” records and then “Double Shot” records, where “The Oogum Boogum Song” reached No. 19 on the US Billboard R&B chart and No. 34 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the spring of 1967. In 1972 he formed his own record label “Cream”  and released numerous 45’s and albums through the decades. This disc from 1968 is in EXCELLENT condition, worth checking out the flip too!!
