Donald James Randolph was born on March 24th, 1938 in Orangeburg, South Carolina. He initially sang in his family’s gospel quartet and then founded the doo-wop group The Rainbows. He was an important figure in the soul music explosion of the 1960’s as a writer and performer. His first big hit was “Pony Time” by Chubby Checker in 1961, he also wrote the Aretha Franklin hits “See-Saw”with Steve Cropper and “Chain Of Fools”. Don Covay sadly died on January 31st, 2015 in Franklin Square, New York. Highly recommended 60’s gem is in VG++ condition with slight staining on label
