Doris Jones was born in South Carolina in 1948, moving to New York 11 years later. At 20 she formed a group called Sex, Love & Life with her sister Lumishia Jones, then in 1972, as the Electric Ladies they recorded “King Kong” on “Mainstream” records. The record stiffed in the States and Britain. Doris then formed Black Stash, recording “Mighty Love Man”, produced by the Exciters’ Herb Rooney. Ian Levine discovered Jones through Rooney and cut some tracks on her in a New Jersey studio that were released in England – “He’s So Irreplaceable,” and “Stranded in the Wilderness.” This disc from 1976 is in EXCELLENT condition, worth checking the instrumental flip too
