Eddie Giles – Sexy Lady – Custom Sound

£15.00

Elbert Wiggins “Eddy” or “Eddie” Giles was born in March 17th 1938 near Shreveport, where he remained for all of his life until his death on February 7th 2019
He sang in local gospel groups like the Pilgrim Jubilees Humming Bees, but it wasn’t until 1967 that Eddy agreed to make a secular recording. “Losing Boy” was cut at the Robin Hood Brian’s studio in Tyler, Texas and sold well, in the Dallas area alone selling 10,000 copies, staying for 5 weeks on the Cashbox hot 100. Eddy had  6 more releases on Murco over the next couple of years but without getting the sales of the first release.
The final release was cut at Shreveport’s premier studio Sound City but after a short lived Murco release, the masters were leased to Shelby Singleton, who in turn placed them with Leland Rogers’ Silver Fox concern in 1969. Eddy then joined the Bobby Patterson/Jerry Strickland partnership, and recorded enough material at the local Sound City studios for an LP. One 45 was leased to Stax, and a second came out on Alarm, the label they owned with Stewart Madison.  This single on  the Shreveport, LA “Custom Sound” label is Eddy’s final secular recording and is recommended Soul from 1977 in EXCELLENT condition!!
