The Flamingos were formed in Chicago in 1953. and originally comprised Jacob “Jake” Carey, Ezekiel “Zeke” Carey, Paul Wilson and Johnny Carter, with Earl Lewis joining a little later, to be replaced by Sollie McElroy. They first recorded for “Chance” records, then “Parrot” records. In 1955 they signed to “Chess” records, then to “Decca” records in 1957 and “End” records in 1958. The group began to come apart at the turn of the decade and they recorded several uptempo songs through the 1960’s, on a variety of labels and continued recording into the 1970’s, 1980’s, 1990’s and 2000’s, finally splitting up in 2005. This disc from 1974 is in EXCELLENT condition, worth checking the flip too
