Jerome Louis Jackson was born on November 8th, 1942 in the Bronx, New York and started out as a songwriter and arranger before writing and recording “Shy Guy”, backed with “Time”, on “Crescent” records in 1963. He became part of a freelance songwriting team in 1964 with Sidney Barnes. Jackson is best known for the soul hit “But It’s Alright” which reached number 22 on the Billboard chart and was one of the first R & B hit singles to have been recorded in England. In 1967, Jackson was signed to “Loma” records, prior to the label being absorbed by Warner Bros. in 1968. Jackson released a series of singles on Loma and Warner Bros. In 1969 he signed with “Congress” records”. J.J. Jackson became a permanent resident of England in 1969 and recorded up until the mid 1970’s but still performed live. This disc is in EXCELLENT condition, worth checking out the flip too
