Jimmy J. Hughes was born on April 25th, 1935 in Leighton, Alabama. After an introduction to Rick Hall, from Fame studios, he recorded “Steal Away” in 1964. After a few more records, he signed to “Volt” records in 1968, recording 5 singles for the label. He gave up performing and recording altogether in 1971 securing a government job, and later retiring in Leighton, Alabama. This disc from 1969 has a “drill hole” and a couple of light superficial scuffs, and is conservatively graded in VG++ condition. Worth checking out the flip “I’m Not Ashamed To Beg Or Plead”
