“Laurie” was an American record label founded in 1958 by brothers Robert Schwartz and Gene Schwartz, and Allan I. Sussel, the founder of Philadelphia’s Jamie Records. In the early ’60s, arranger Eliot Greenberg became a minority partner. Lucius Lavarn Lawton was born in Savannah, Georgia in 1942. Lucius began his professional singing career in Pittsburgh, PA., upon completion of his military service in the U.S. Air Force. He travelled extensively as a singer and settled in New York for a number of years. After releasing one record on “Laurie” records in 1963 he changed his name to Lou (Lew) and signed with “Capitol” records in 1966 and released a couple of records, he then moved to New York’s “Wand” records and released 1 record before releasing two records on “Heart & Soul” records. He had an unfortunate car accident on February 22nd, 1989 which critically injured him and changed his life forever and sadly died on October 11th, 2004. This disc is in EXCELLENT condition, worth checking out the flip too
