Mel Carter was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on April 22nd, 1943. He was discovered by Quincy Jones and signed for Mercury records. He had his first hit in 1963, with the Sam Cooke’s co-penned “When a Boy Falls in Love”. In the mid 60’s he reached his commercial peak with “Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me” at Imperial. This disc from 1964 has a black marker cross on the flip and light wear, whilst retaining gloss, conservatively graded in VG++ condition, worth checking the flip too
