The Merced Blue Notes formed in high school in Merced, California in January 1957, and would undergo numerous lineup changes over the course of their career, the constant element being singer, songwriter, guitarist Kenny Craig. They put out a couple of singles on “Merced” records in 1960, then intermittently recorded over the next 6 years for other companies, including “Accent” records, “Tri-Phi” records, “Mammoth” records, and the “Fantasy” records R&B subsidiary “Galaxy” records. With little success on record, the lineup that recorded for “Galaxy” records in the mid 1960’s broke up in early 1966. Kenny Craig kept the group going with other musicians and continued playing live under the band name for several more years. This disc has superficial wear, whilst retaining dome gloss to the vinyl, conservatively graded between VG and VG+ condition, worth checking out the flip too
