Mitty Collier – Don’t Let Her Take My Baby – Chess

Mitty Lene Collier was born on 21 June 1941 in Birmingham, Alabama. Mitty started singing in gospel groups like Hayes Ensemble and The Lloyd Reese Singers. After entering a talent show in Chicago, 1959 Ralph Bass of “Chess” records offered her a record contract, where she had a hit with “I’m Your Part Time Love” in 1963 under the production of Billy Davis. In 1968 she joined William Bell’s “Peachtree” records, but sadly lost her singing voice in 1971. She started a gospel career recording religious music albums and keeping herself busy with activities around her strong christian beliefs. This disc from 1962 is in EXCELLENT condition, worth checking out the flip too!!
