Ronald Bertram Aloysius “R. B.” Greaves III was born on November 28th, 1943 on the US Army Air Forces base at Georgetown, Guyana and was a nephew of Sam Cooke, he grew up on a Seminole Indian Reservation in the United States, but he moved to England in 1963 and built a career under the name Sonny Childe with his group the TNTs. After returning to the U.S. he had chart success in 1969 as “R.B. Greaves”  with “Take A Letter Maria”, selling one million copies for “Atco” records. Greaves recorded a series of cover version and left the label in the 1970s in favour of Sunflower Records, and then signed to Bareback Records. R.B. Greaves sadly died on 27th September 2012. This disc from 1968 is in EXCELLENT conditions, worth checking out the flip too
