The Spaniels were formed in 1952 in Gary, Indiana, comprising Thornton James “Pookie” Hudson singing lead, Ernest Warren singing first tenor, Opal Courtney singing baritone, Willis C. Jackson singing baritone and
Gerald Gregory singing bass. In April 1953 they signed with Vee-Jay Records and recorded “Baby It’s You”, which reached number 10 on Billboard’s R&B record chart. In 1954, “Goodnight Sweetheart, Goodnight” hit number 24 on Variety’s pop chart, and number 5 on Billboard’s R&B chart. The band broke up when the label went bankrupt in 1966, but in 1969, the group reformed. This fabulous piece of Crossover from 1969 is on the flip of a remake of their big hit”Goodnight Sweetheart, Goodnight” The disc hassuperficial scuffs to vinyl, retaining a lot of “gloss” and is conservatively graded in VG+ condition edging into VG++ condition.
