Ben Krass was Bborn in 1919, died on 7 June 2004 of complications of Alzheimer’s disease.
He was a successful businesman in the clothing industry, with the Krass Brothers’ clothing store in Philadelphia, but his love for music made him found his own record label South Street Records in 1960, a short lived venture in the music business. In the mid 1960’s he collaborated with Curtis Mayfield and he reportedly lent money to Kenneth Gamble so Gamble could pursue his own musical dreams. Ben sang this tune under the guise of “Boss Man” in 1968, later rerecording it in 1971 as “B.K. Marcus” and retitling the tune “Does She Care About Me”. This copy has a “Drill hole” otherwise EXCELLENT copy of this Philly Northern classic!!
