Jake Hammonds Jr was born on September 13th, 1938 in Detroit, Michigan and recorded in the 1960’s under the name “Timmy Shaw”. He first recorded in 1960 as Jay Hammond on “Hi Q” records, followed by “Audrey” records, which was  owned by Detroit businesswoman and record producer Johnnie Mae Matthews.  The following year he recorded on “Reel” records and in 1962 recorded  on “Bon” records. Timmy Shaw’s only chart record was “Gonna Send You Back To Georgia”, which reached number 41 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1964 on “Wand” records, originally titled “A City Slick”, and first released as the flip side of “I’m A Lonely Guy” on “Audrey” records, but the follow-up, “If I Catch You (Running Around)”, failed to reach the charts. Later in the 1960’s, Shaw recorded duets with both Little Melvin and Chuck Holiday, but neither had commercial success. Timmy Shaw sadly died on March 29th, 1984. This disc from 1964 has a “drill hole” and superficial wear, conservatively graded in VG+ condition, worth checking the flip
