The Dells formed in 1952 in Harvey, Illinois and comprised of Chuck Barksdale, Johnny Carter, Johnny Funches, Marvin Junior, Mickey McGill and Verne Allison. Their career spanned over four decades initially called the El-Rays. Their first hit was in 1956, “Oh What A Night” at Vee Jay Records, but after two albums at “Vee Jay” records they were signed at “Cadet” records in the mid 1960’s where they released many 45’s and albums until 1975. After Cadet they released more 45’s and albums at “Mercury” records, “ABC” records, “20th Century Fox” records, “Private I” records, “Veteran” records, “Philadelphia International” records, “Volt” records and “Devine” records up until 2002. This disc from 1969 has a couple of superficial marks, conservatively graded in VG++ condition, worth checking the flip.
